MEAL PENALTIES &
REST PERIODS

Meal Penalties when working on TV production in a studio increased by $1 per half hour:

  • First one-half hour meal delay or fraction thereof - $8.50

  • Second one-half hour meal delay or fraction thereof - $11.00

  • Third and each succeeding one-half hour meal delay or fraction thereof - $13.50

Created enhanced (10 hour) daily turnaround after two 14 hour or longer days specifically for features and S2+ of a series.

Added guidelines regarding long workdays, meaning tired workers can request a ride or room and the Employer will endeavor to fulfill such a request.

2018

Achieved prevailing rate meal penalties for every meal penalty after 20 in a work week.

Added a new penalty – for the fifth and each additional ½ hour meal delay: an additional $25 penalty.

Achieved 10 hour rest period for Local and Nearby Hires on all productions, eliminating any exceptions.

Achieved weekend rest period building on gains from the 2014 LBA (Low Budget Theatrical Agreement), where a weekend rest period was added (32 hrs for a six-day week and 48 hours for a five-day week). Weekend rest was added to the ASA (54 hr weekend rest for a five-day week and 32 hours for a six-day week).

For Local and Nearby Hires, increased daily turnaround to 10 hours for S2+ of an episodic series.

Courtesy housing or round-trip transportation required when requested following one day in excess of 14 hours of work.
